In the historic church from Wolanów, Palm Sunday celebrations take place every year.
Bells played a very important role in the life of the village. They reminded local society about religious life, calling for the Angelus, masses in the church and informing about death. Theologians have for a long time associated the bells with a “moralizing” significance and transferred its sense onto bell towers. Towers, which were bell towers were compared to priests who teach people. In the sacral building any type of towers have always been a special symbol of raising to God. However, the role of the bells was not only limited to informing the worshippers about the masses. The sound made by the metal instruments have almost in every culture.

In folk be - liefs, the bells have also a special meteo - rological significance. It is commonly thought that they influence the air and their sound which hits the clouds, can dissipate or scare away the clouds. Hence in many places bells were used during the storm. The bell sound was supposed to additionally arouse the wor - shippers for prayers for reversing of disa - sters brought by winds, thunder storms, hail and heavy rains.
